tommi yommi14" x30"
2002
(private collection)
Tommi Yommi is 14" x 30" tall with the frame adding another 2 eaches around, so it a long skinny painting. The background is dark red, tommi yommi is orangey/golden (the painting actually has light touches of gold metallic paint) surrounded by bright green and blue vines. The subject is Tommi yommi asleep atop of my bookshelf asleep under a hanging plant.
It is hand framed from back when I built my own frames. The frame is kind of like a puzzle, each piece fits together. These wavy frames were very popular, but the making them just proved so time intensive, I had to give it up.
Tommi Yommi is based upon my old cat Tommi that I had years ago. He was very special and I say special with all that means. His hearing and balance were kind of off. However, he was one of the most lovable and zany and sweetest cats that I have ever had and it was beautiful, too: an orangey brown tiger cat with cinnamon brown eyes. I've yet to see another cat with eyes that color. He loved to sit on my bookshelf which is where he has been painted.
